Stakeholders’ Meeting to Discuss the Establishment of a Health Digital Repository
The University Library in collaboration with College of Health Sciences held a stakeholders’ meeting at the Silver Springs Hotel on Monday18th June 2018 to map out ways of establishing an African Health Digital repository. The project will finally involve seven countries in Africa namely; Kenya, Uganda, Mali, Botswana, Mozambique, Nigeria, Zambia. Funds are provided by the Office of Global AIDS of the US, Department of State and regulated by the Civilian Research Development Foundation (CRDF). The aim of the project is to establish an open access health digital repository that will host health information from the seven participating countries in Africa. The repository will enhance the visibility of the health publications at the university and in Kenya at large.
The forum was opened by the Acting Principal, College of Health Sciences, Prof. James Machoki M'Imunya. The Acting Director Library & Information Services, Acting Deputy Director (T), College Librarian (College of Health Sciences) and the Librarian spearheading the project as well as some Digital Content staff were all in attendance. The Principal reiterated that as a college, they are in full support of matters related to research and grants. He said that he was ready to support strategic units in the college that make the college succeed in the health sector with the Library included as one of the strategic units.
